How Long Do Ombré Brows Last?

Colour retention varies from client to client depending on skin type, skin condition, lifestyle and the pigment colour selected. Over the years your body will naturally metabolise the pigment. Typically, Ombré Brows can last anywhere from 1-4 years. For best results, Coco Cosmetic Tattoo recommends getting your tattoo refreshed anywhere from 12-24 months.

Generally, oily or combination skin types will notice fading faster than dry to normal skin types. Younger clients will usually experience fading quicker than mature clients, this is due to the skin's cellular turnover rate being higher when we are younger. Excessive sun exposure will soften the colour of your tattoo faster. Applying a sunscreen of SPF-50 after healing is required to help keep colour true. Adhering to your appointment preparation and aftercare will also impact the longevity of your treatment.

Using certain skin care products on your brows like Vitamin A, Retinoids, Alpha Hydroxy Acids (Lactic and Glycolic Acid), and Beta Hydroxy Acids (Salicylic Acid) can cause premature fading or strip the colour. These are very commonly found in many facial products so be sure to check the ingredient label on your products and avoid putting them directly over the brows. If you are planning to undergo a chemical peel, laser treatment, microdermabrasion or other medical procedure, please inform the technician that you have had a cosmetic tattoo. They must avoid the tattooed area as these treatments can fade the pigment.

Every client is different and colour retention depends greatly on these factors. Some clients will need a yearly colour refresh while others may go 2+ years without needing one.
