CONTRAINDICATIONS
Before booking your appointment please read the following to determine if you are a suitable candidate for cosmetic tattooing. Your overall health, skin quality and medical factors all need to be taken into consideration for your safety and best results. If you have a health condition not listed below that you think may affect your ability to undergo a cosmetic tattoo procedure, please let us know before booking your treatment.
Who is cosmetic tattooing not suitable for?
-
• If you have diabetes, a heart condition, haemophilia or a healing disorder it is absolutely not recommended that you get any form of permanent makeup done as this puts you in a high-risk position.
• If you are undergoing chemotherapy you will have to wait until your treatment is finished. It is recommended to wait 12 months and you will require a letter from your doctor confirming it is safe to proceed.
• Those on blood-thinning medication should not receive this treatment. This includes aspirin, treatment of high blood pressure, pain relief (Ibuprofen), Niacin, and Vitamin E. Please receive advice from your doctor before discontinuing any medication.
• If you have been taking Roaccutane/Accutane in the last 12 months you must wait a year before receiving any cosmetic tattoo treatments.
• You cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Brows: Cosmetic botox in the treatment area must be done at least 2 weeks on either side of your appointment.
• Lip Blush: Any Lip filler in the treatment area must be done at least 4 weeks on either side of your appointment.
• Lip Blush: If you are prone to cold sores you must take preventative anti-viral medication such as Zovirax 5 days before, on the day of, and 5 days after your Lip Blush treatment (or as advised by your doctor or pharmacist). Please be aware that if you have the herpes simplex virus, the treatment can trigger an outbreak. Taking an anti-viral medication will minimise your chances of a cold sore breaking out. You can purchase an over-the-counter anti-viral medication from your local pharmacy.
• Anyone taking opioid or steroid medications.
• Some autoimmune conditions.
• Transmittable blood conditions (e.g. HIV or Hepatitis).
• Allergic to pigments.
-
• If you are prone to keloid scarring.
• Overly red, delicate or extremely sensitive skin.
• It is important to not be sunburnt or recently sun-tanned for your procedure.
• You cannot have any skin treatments including chemical peels done a month prior to your procedure.
• If you have a skin condition such as eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, keratosis pilaris, rosacea or chronic acne (in the area being treated) unfortunately, cosmetic tattooing will not be suitable for you. This is because your skin is likely in a state of constant shedding and inflammation, and therefore won’t hold the pigment very well.
-
• You must be over 18 years of age to receive any cosmetic tattoo treatments.
• We will not be able to tattoo over any blemishes, sores, moles or bumps in the treatment area.
• You must inform us of any previous cosmetic tattoos you have in the area to be treated BEFORE booking your appointment. Please send us a clear close-up photo of your existing tattoo so we can determine if we can work over it.
• Retinol, Vitamin A and any eyebrow growth serums must be paused at least 1 month before your treatment as these products can cause the skin to be hypersensitive and bleed easily.
• You must wait a minimum of 4 months after your cosmetic tattooing procedure before you can give blood.
